The Importance of Reading the Bible

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Although many find meaning in life in reading the Bible, still many have not made it a practice or habit to read the Bible. These are the people that we must be concerned about: how do we draw them to God through the Bible?  We should read and observe the Bible as it is God’s Word to us. The Bible is “God-breathed” ( two Timothy 3:16 ). To explain, it is God’s wonderful words to us.

People who say the Bible has blunders have their ears closed to the truth. We should read and observe the Bible because God doesn’t change and because humankind’s nature doesn’t change ; it is as important for us as it was when it was written. We find, as we studied the pages of biblical history, that whether we are talking about one to one relations or societies, “there is nothing new under the sun” ( Ecclesiastes nineteen ).

And while humankind in total continues to find love and satisfaction in all the incorrect places, Godour good and gracious Creatortells us what will bring us lasting joy.

His made public Word, the Bible, is so important that Jesus expounded of it, “Man doesn’t live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” ( Matthew 4:4 ). To explain, if we wish to live life to the fullest, as God intended, we must hear and heed God’s written Word. We should read and observe the Bible because there’s so much fake teaching. To have an inaccurate impression of Almighty God is to worship an idol or fake god.

We are worshiping something that he’s not. The Bible tells us how one actually gets to heaven, and it’s not by being good or by being baptized or by anything more we do ( John 14:6 ; Ephesians 2:1-10 ; Isaiah 53:6 ; Romans 3:10-18, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-13 ). Along this line, God’s Word shows us quite how much God loves us ( Romans 5:6-8 ; John 3:16 ). And it is in learning this that we are drawn to like Him in return ( one John 4:19 ). The Bible provides us to serve God ( two Timothy 3:17 ; Ephesians 6:17 ; Hebrews 4:12 ).

It helps us know the way to be saved from our sin and its final result ( two Timothy 3:15 ). God’s Word helps us see sin in our lives helping us lose it ( Psalm 119:9, eleven ).

It gives us guidance in life, making us wiser than our teachers ( Psalm 32:8, 119:99 ; Proverbs 1:6 ). The Bible keeps us from wasting years of our lives on that which does not count and won’t last ( Matthew 7:24-27 ).

Reading the Bible Effectively

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Perhaps the greatest solace in a person’s life is to get to know God through the Bible. To grow, you want to read the Bible each day as an element of your time with Our Lord God — your devotions or quiet time. In this daily time with the Lord God I like to recommend prayer, wide Bible reading, praise, thanksgiving, confession, and meditation — these are paths to reach out to God with your spirit. Bible reading is 1 technique of letting God refresh your spirit and talk to your intelligence. If you wish to learn the Bible, I like to recommend that you read broadly instead of narrowly. An one-verse devotional could be quick, but it will not truly help you to understand the Bible. I try each morning to read one chapter from the Old Testament, one chapter from Psalms or Proverbs, and one chapter from the New Testament.

How to Read the Bible

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Reading the Bible is different from reading any other literary text. You can’t go to chapter one and read everything about God and go to chapter two to read everything about Jesus, for example. It’s way better to read by paragraph, these too are synthetic but they do conform better to the first language than verses. Some ground rules have to be set up first:

  • Ask for guidance  and to be in a position to accept what’s written and to be in a position to apply His will to your life.
  • Never, never read the Bible trying to explanation your faith on any subject. It’s only man’s nature to take concepts out of the correct context.
  • If you continue to don’t understand, write down the trouble spot and continue onward. You can discover the answers later in your reading.
  • Don’t read large quantities of the Bible in one setting. Begin with the New Testament, folks who begin with the Old Testament nearly never read the Bible all of the way through. The New Testament is what’s binding on us today not the Old. We need to follow God’s will for us today not what was meant for the Jews. Don’t take what you need it to point out with you first.

With these pointers, maybe you’d better find solace and enlightenment when reading the Bible.

Can People Understand the Bible Today?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Many people want to understand the Bible more. But when they try and read it, they find it hard to understand and, on occassions, a little “dry”. But the Bible is actually not hard to understand, it just takes a little time. The Bible, and its truths, David declared, are “more to be desired than gold, yea, than much fine gold : sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” (Psalm 19:10).

He adored the Word of the Almighty, and so do people who know how to understand it. But first, allow me to say that learning the Bible can’t be done overnight. Its truths are deep, and it has to be slowly and conscientiously dug out with some work – like college – which is progressive in nature.

Here are five things which will help to open the door of the Bible to your understanding.

Through a Teacher
The Teacher is prepared to make all things clear to you – one at a time. He is always near to a follower and prepared to show you “great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” ( Jeremiah 33:3 ).

The conditions under which He teaches you are easy – you have to be one of His youngsters. This essentially means that Christ has become your Savior thru your simply informing him that you detest your sins, and are sorry to God for having committed them. Then by confessing to God that you suspect that Christ is the Child of God you may be buried with him in baptism. Then, His Spirit comes to live inside and he is prepared to educate and to steer you. When you, as a follower who is ready to be taught, and follow, ask Him to coach you simply before you open it and read. David prayed : “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold fantastic things out of thy law” ( Psalm 119:18 ).

Continued Obedience
It may appear peculiar to you this is discussed next – instead of some educational principle. As unusual as it may appear, obedience is the very next thing that helps open the door to your understanding. It isn’t a way to an end after baptism. Jesus put it like this, in John 7:17 : “If any person will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine “Now the word “doctrine” isn’t a thing to be fearful of, it essentially means the “teachings” of the Bible. Jesus was announcing that those that are ready to obey Him, and seek first the Kingdom of God, are those whose heart the Spirit can instruct to appreciate the Bible.

Keeping Faith
An individual, who isn’t prepared to believe, won’t be able to comprehend the deeper truths of the Word of our Lord. They’ll simply be so much foolishness to that person. But a follower, on the other hand, thru religion can have their eyes opened to see things that an unbelieving person will never see.

Through Other Scriptures
The Bible is a Book that will principally translate itself, if we won’t let our preconceived biases warp what we read. For instance, when many folks read the tale of the birth of Christ in Matthew, they immediately follow the mistaken perspectives of others in their knowledge of the story here. This is only given to show how a preconceived idea can cast a shadow over the genuine truth of the Bible. One such example is that everybody assumes there were three sensible men because there were three gifts. Perhaps one could presume this however the Bible doesn’t essentially say their were three of them. The principle here is to let other Scripture verses show you what a selected passage means.

“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little” (Isaiah 28:10). If you may look up other verses working with the same subject, it will help you, together with the other elements to grasp God’s Word.

Through Preachers
Those teachers of the Word of our Lord in a Bible-teaching church are the best methods to help to grasp the Bible. While they are imperfect, they are given the job of making plain to the folks the Word of the Lord, and its meaning.

These five things can significantly help you to comprehend the Bible better, together with a regular and daily reading of it. If you have not read the entire Bible through, commence with the text of John, and then go to Matthew and read thru the New Testament follow that by reading thru the entire Bible. Following these steps rigorously will permit you to start to get a rich and enjoyable knowledge of God’s Word.

Scripture Meditation

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Do you think about your life to be pointless, full of torment and unfortunate? A more enjoyable life awaits you, be concerned in Scripture meditation. Are you not pleased with your life today? Are you dreaming that one day you are going to be able to live a satisfying life? Maybe you aspire to greater wedding or better roles, fostering relations, and a cheerful family life, whatever your wishes and objectives, all of these things are achievable. The majority write their dreams and goals in the hope that one day their dreams will at last true.

Though all of these things are important, it is not very easy to follow dreams. Constantly you concentrate on other concerns and that is why it isn’t straightforward to smash with all of these things. If you need to experience and get out and see what God meant for you, it is really easy.

Attempt to read the Scriptures and you can learn many things. Essentially, there’s what’s called the meditation of the Scriptures. You can even find sites on the subject and reading the scriptures or the Holy Bible, you can seriously enhance your way of life. A single verse of the Bible can give a large amount of meaning, and meditating on it, you can apply the words of the Bible in reality.

Take, for instance, Proverbs 12:11 ; it comes to nutrition and fantasies. The verse is indeed true and can be applied to real life. If only one individual works closely with his land, he’ll have food for his table. While , those who chase their dreams without end and not to plant crops, then they have zilch to harvest.

The significant point in this verse is that folk should stick to reality, and that each person must not take risks blindly. There are hazards when chasing your dreams, and if you lack information, it can be extraordinarily pricey re life.

They also have different Bibles that are written scriptures. If you like, you can join bodies that read the Scriptures and think about them. By meditating on the Scriptures, you may understand what God has planned for you.

Your intellect will be more clear and you can set your priorities. No more dreaming as you now know the way to achieve those dreams thru God. If you only concentrate on your dreams and live of what the Scriptures say, then perhaps you may have a successful and rewarding life. Many of us are also in the meditation of the Scriptures. It is never too far gone, and who knows, the best times are just round the corner waiting for you. You have to now start to meditate, and not delay till tomorrow.
